Compilation of various public domain images (scaled) (terrestrial planets *10, gas giants to scale to the sun). The two belts (asteroid and transneptunian) are almost random scatter in this image. Centers of other objects are set according to orbital elements of various celestial objects, with the exception of natural satellites. Voyager 1 is out of the image.
The image is 360 pixels wide above the scale to represent the inclination (incl.*2 = the amount of pixels off the center axis), or the orbit of the main body in the given distance (f.e the dots indicating the Jupiter trojan asteroids should be 120 pixels off Jupiter). The eccentricity of the orbits is not indicated, though to some objects (asteroids, comets) this might possibly be done under the central axis.
Sun is of wrong colour.91.153.55.155 16:48, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
NOTE:(to possible editors, after a meticulous post-production checking): Other things to correct and check and add :
- Divisions in the asteroid belt/NEAs?
- Are the indicators to comets on correct locations?
- the poles of the planets are not to the same direction.
- add rings to gas planets?
- The image of Venus is a distortion.
- The images of Pluto, Eris and Sedna might be of wrong size (don't remember if I checked those while compiling this)
- the scale under 1 ua
- Jupiter might be a bit too small in comparison
- Kuiper belt start, max. incl.?
- Possibly the names of the 8 planets?
- Add the arrow and spot for Voyager 1 to the bottom corner (high eccentricity) ?
- Hilda L1 -> L3.
I'm finished with this image, too much things to check and redo if any of the scales are modified. Dreg743 13:08, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
