The Sojourner rover was the first space exploration rover to successfully reach another planet. Sojourner landed on Mars as part of the Mars Pathfinder mission on July 4, 1997.

The Mars Pathfinder mission, including the Sojourner rover, was launched by NASA on December 4, 1996. 550 of the images returned from Mars Pathfinder were from Sojourner.
