Image:SOHO EIT ultraviolet corona image.gif

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An image taken by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft's EIT instrument showing the corona in deep UV at 17.1 nm. The UV wavelength corresponds to resonance lines of eight and nine times ionized iron (Fe IX/X) which is churning in the hot coronal plasma at about 1 million kelvin.
