Most capable software engineers can sort the disasters from the non-disasters, and entire books have been written about the disasters. Software that takes lives (Therac-25) or causes the loss of millions of dollars worth of materiel (Arianne 5) is pretty-easily characetrized as a disaster. One might debate (and we have) whether, for example, OS/360 is a disaster or not, but there are plenty of cases that are plenty clear.

This seems to include both disasters and failures. Lots of (even large) software development projects do not succeed. I think the Workplace OS and so on stuff should be dropped. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.145.49.15 (talkcontribs) .
