Talk:Soekris
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soekris does not seem to be worth a WP article. Propose to delete, per Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)
- They are not well known
- They are just another product in a sea of products
- The only results I find from Google are either their own site or basic links from people describing using their products.
- There is little content here that could not be found from their site
- It looks mostly like advertising
- No meaningful links within WP
- No talk page

- Hello Aaron Lawrence,
- Hi, thanks for commenting!
- I strongly disagree with you.
- Soekris may be a small company (I'm not sure), but they do have some remarkable products.
- In what way? Can you cite someone saying how remarkable or unique they are?
- I's not "one in a sea of products", as far as I know a similar product is only made by one other company (PC Engines in Switserland).
- What is is unique about it?
- They are quite well known by users of small plaforms in the unix world and the ntp world.
- Sorry, I do not see any evidence of this. As I said from Google search, there are occasional individuals using it, as would be normal for any product. This doesn't make them notable. WP doesn't aim to have an entry on every product ever made, AFAIK.
- The article is not an ad.
- It reads like one.
- I made some edits and added two pictures, but I never had any contact with the company. Like so many others, just a private person using their products.
- None of this makes them notable and worthy of entry into WP.
- And please sign your comments next time.
- Sorry, I sometimes forget.Aaron Lawrence 07:09, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Soekris is worthy of an Wikipedia article because it is a very unique computing application. Basically you can use Soekris equipment to make any network appliance you like. We use them as network tools to fill the gaps other devices will not do. For instance, we have several that simply search for rogue DHCP servers, several that search for unauthorized static IPs on our network, a couple are routers, and one is a firewall. The statement that Soekris is not worthy of an article is like saying Java is not worth an article because it's just another programming language or Windows is not worthy of an article because it's just another operating system. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.80.66.10 (talk) 20:29, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
