[edit] Community of interest

The page doesn't exactly tell what CoIs really are. Gerhard Fischer at the article Communities of Interest: Learning through the Interaction of Multiple Knowledge Systems describes them as following

  • CoIs bring together stakeholders from different CoPs
  • CoIs often are more temporary than CoPs: they come together in the context of a specific project and dissolve after the project has ended

Also most scientist in literature describe that CoPs are structures inside organization so the people in community work in the same organization.

[edit] Mores

Mores refers to a type of norm. (Folkways, mores, and taboos are all types of norms.) The idea of violating of a taboo evokes feelings of disgust because a taboo is such a strongly held norm. Picking your nose is a violation of a folkway, not a taboo. It might be gross, but it's not that important.

Incest and cannibalism typically violate taboos (although maybe not in all societies, these taboos are common). Murder and rape typically violate mores. Nose picking in public typically violates a folkway.

Taboos, mores, and folkways may all be part of formal norms, or laws and policies, but this isn't what classifies a norm. 209.106.183.195 01:07, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Emo and sociological source

Hi, at Talk:Emo_(slang)#The_new_source.2C_seen_strictly_through_the_rules we have had a long discussion on whether emo is a subculture or not. While the discussion has become long-winded and probably useless to try to unravel from the begging (feel free to try, though), I would like some input from this community.

Recently, there has been controversy over a abstract from a conference. My arguments for using this source are found at the link above and I would love to hear your input on it. Or just a general evaluation on the source and the claim itself. If anyone knows of better sources, that would of course also be great. Lundse 20:52, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Invasion theory

Invasion theory desperately needs referencing. If anyone could help, that would be great. Hazillow (talk) 20:49, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of subcultures

The article List of subcultures is lackluster right now and is being nominated for deletion. I do think it has potantial though, and could be made into a very good article. QuirkyAndSuch (talk) 10:25, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of youth subcultures

The article List of youth subcultures is also in need of work. QuirkyAndSuch (talk) 07:34, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
