HERBERT SPENCER Spencer pretty much invented the concept of the social organism, and as his work predates that of Durkheim, it doesn't seem right to state 'The conception of an "organismic society" was elaborated further by Herbert Spencer in his essay on "The Social Organism".'Kissoff 03:42, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
