Talk:Social networking spam

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • Should a section be added for the sudden proliferation of blackballing throw-away email addresses? I've noticed (mainly on Social Networking sites) something along these lines:

______ Warning -- originally from <some name>
if somebody called <Throwaway Email> adds you on <social network site>
DON'T accept it because it's a ______. Tell everyone on your list because
if somebody on your list adds them you get them on your list he'll
figure out your ID computer address, so copy and paste this message
to every one even if you hate them and fast - cause if he hacks
their mail, he hacks yours

The '_____' is usually referenced by 'Hacker' or some other malicious moniker

I initially I wanted to reference it as a type of [[pluralistic ignorance]], but would like some thoughts on that.

I've started this in the discussion section because I wasn't sure if it existed elsewhere, and if it did under what name? Thanks --Maetrix 19:08, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
