A telenovela is an equivalent or subgenre of soap operas (primarily in Spanish-speaking countries) which typically has a finite length.

A téléroman or télénovel is a French language soap opera or telenovela in Quebec, while a feuilleton télévisé is the equivalent in France.

Philippine drama, teleserye or teledrama are the current terms for telenovela or soap opera in the Philippines.
