Talk:Snake Plissken
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This whole page needs clean up as a whole. So many typos and such. I'm not going to be the one to do it, though.
Re Anti-Heroes ... pointed to the wrong place in my link in my edit. See here instead. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 16:06, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia Section
Shouldn't their be a trivia section on this guy? He's influenced culture in some pretty cool ways. Most notably, he's obviously a character reference for Solid Snake. Who also calls himself Iriquois plisken. And they look alot alike.
This resemblance can easily be seen in the novelization of the movies cover. They really do look alike, especially the eyepatch.--user: yottou —Preceding comment was added at 13:45, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Images
The two Escape from NY pictures were moved a little while ago because of a lack of sourcing and fair use licensing information. I added a new photo, a publicity photo from Escape from LA, so that should be fine. However, I'd appreciate it if someone could upload their own fair use DVD screenshots or images of Snake from EfNY, as that's probably the more iconic look, particularly with the sleeveless vest and younger Kurt Russell. --SevereTireDamage 07:07, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Russell Has Nothing to [complain] About
Regarding Kurt Russell's reported outrage over Gerard Butler being cast as Snake Plissken in the Escape from New York remake, let's remember that, among other characters in Butler's resume, he has played a Spartan and a Romanian.
Granted, in the case of Harry Potter, the cast is mostly British for the sake of authenticity. In the context of Russell's grievance, it is an empty complaint because actors are people who portray characters.
You have a Welsh actor -- Christian Bale -- who played a billionaire crime fighter, and yet another Welsh actor -- Sir Anthony Hopkins -- who played a Spaniard freedom fighter who was the inspiration of the preceding character portrayal's comic book history. I ask again, what does Kurt have to complain about?
My suggestion to Kurt is to look at the body of Butler's work before allegedly spouting off condemning remarks about him. Otherwise, have a Coke, a smile, shut up, and at least try to enjoy the movie when it comes out.

[edit] Date of Birth/Age
I'm not sure who's ass you pulled that out of, but it makes no sense. In Escape From New York, Snake Plissken was a character in a near future (1997), so it makes no sense that he'd be older than Kurt Russell.
[edit] Character Traits
The character traits section is pure original research and not needed here. It's obvious from the article he's an extremly moral man who can kick butt. Lots42 (talk) 16:10, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I think it adds a lot to the article in that it gives a clear understanding of what the character is like. I wouldn't say that it is obvious he's a moral man (in fact I'd say the opposite), though it can probably be assumed that he kicks butt. I think the character traits section does very accurately describe who Snake is; you're not likely to find any series fans that disagree with what's in there.
