Talk:Slough Independents

[edit] Text removed from article 17 August 2007

STARTS

One of the reasons for the re-branding was the use by Labour and Conservative politicians of the name Independent as part of their strategy to split the vote into Moslems, Sikhs and whites components and cause their opponents to lose votes purely for racial reasons.

In the Slough 2007 local elections all the "Independent" candidates except for one, David MacIssacc of Wexham, were surrogates of the Labour Party or of the Conservative Party and competed against the official candidate of the party which arranged their nomination.

An article about the Conservative and Labour racial strategy will be available on an external website. (direct link will be created here)

I've done this because

1) A point of view seenms to be being promoted here (see WP:NPOV for guidance)

2) the material is not verified (see Wikipedia:Verifiability)

3) the name of the editor (and the history of past edits) seems to suggest direct involvement in the events (see Wikipedia:Autobiography and WP:SOAP)

Those who research the web deep enough will know that I used to be involved in Slough politics, but a further wikisearch should show that I have been out of the area for more than 10 years. So I have thought long and hard about whether I am personally breaching wikipedia's etiquette, but in this case I think it is appropriate.

Giles Robert Blundell of Cornwall Avenue, former Slough Labour councillor and candidate, inter alia, for 5/95 Upton, 5/97 Haymill.

Still active in Nulabour and still with a pro-Labour bias. Thanks I'll plonk the extracted text on my NULA section,
