The thought of packaging people and then labling them as property seems very sick. Yet these men and women were called savages.

In this day and age you have animal rights groups that cry about chickens and other livestock being packed together. The thought of people being ripped away from their homes and packed in ships to lay in their own fecies for months is the stuff of nightmares. It is told that it is imprinted in the sharks of today to patrol the same waters that sharks did for the dead that were dumped over centurys ago. Slavery was a brutal thing for the blacks in thi era. a millenia ago to be a slave in Rome for instance was to be someone in the majority. Slaves were often of the same racial bacground but from captured provences and enjoyed "freedom" while they served their masters. Slave was more of a title of their position in society. The bible even says for slaves to obey your masters and Paul petitioned for a slave who was also a christian to be treated well by his owner apon his volentary return. The slavery of blacks and the treatment on these ships was an abomination by any standard of any time. The horror of the slavery of africans should never happen again.

The "slavery" described in the Bible is not chattel slavery where human beings are owned as property.
