[edit] Vulnerable Native Breed/Under Threat

This breed is classed in Britain as a VNB - a breed which originated in the UK but now has registration numbers with the Kennel Club of less then 300 puppies per year.

I'm a Canadian teenager on a gap year before Uni and I'm really interested in this. Would anyone like a VNB paragraph/link on this page? I can write it, but am ignorant about formatting etc. Plus, I'm trying to put together a whole collection on all 29 breeds on this list, including history and so on, using Wikipedia as one of my many sources. If you can help, or are interested at all, please contact me either on my talk page or at green_ied_dragon@hotmail.com

[edit] Plagiarism

Tnis whole description, as with most of the dog breed pages, has been totally lifted from various breed pages from AKC and other places. Plagiarism at its worst. See http://www.dogs.pk/breeds/skye_terrier.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.186.11.5 (talk • contribs) 17:22, 14 September 2006

The contributer is quite correct - big chunks have been lifted. The copyvio stuff is too woven in to clean up the history. I am copyvio tagging and will put the bits that look OK in the temp article. The original article needs deleting and replacing. TerriersFan 22:49, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

If you mean "not very good" plagiarism, I have to agree. However, it's very difficult to paraphrase a standard without either plagiarizing or subtly changing the meaning. Perhaps "Skyes are short, hairy dogs, see the AKC or the Skye Terrier Club websites for details" would have been more to your liking? --TerrierTribe 16:12, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Breeder References

This page should not be a place for breeder's websites advertisements, and subsequently the removal of the last four links under the links section should be considered (the links including "Terrier Tribe" ; "Gleanntan Kennels, Reg."  ; "Elsmoor Skye Terriers"  ; and " Lairdoglen Skye Terriers " ) At the very least, if the website(s) have very little unique breed specific information not found within the primary Skye Terrier Club links, they should highly be considered for removal. Wikipedia is about attaining information, not advertising puppies and/or specific kennels. If it is believed that valuable information is contained within these breeder's webpages, it would be suggested to include the important breed specific information, or to paraphrase that information in the actual Wikipedia article, then create a link to their source.
