Niels Helmink (b.August 24, 1976 in Gaanderen, Netherlands) is a Dutch photographer known for his Architectual projects. His latest project Shopkeepers deals with the disapearance of authentic shopkeepers in the netherlands. The variety of interiors that he shows gives a good peak inside the vanishing world of shop interiors in the twentieth century. A book with a selection of the shopkeepers series wil be published in may 2008. He has won 4 Honorable mentions at this years IPA international Photography awards.

1976 Born on the 24th of august in Gaanderen, The netherlands
1998 Starts studing photography at The school for photography in Ede, The netherlands
2000 Internship Erwin Olaf
2001 Internship Thea van Den Heuvel photography
2002 Gradutates at the School of photography in Ede with project 'amature soccer in the Netherlands'
Publishes graduation project in a brochure for the health insurance company Zorgaanbod.
Becomes 1st assistant for Erwin Olaf 3 days a week.
Begins working for Thea den Heuvel fotografie 2 days a week
2003 Publishes work in the International Design Yearbook 2003
Makes a series of portraits for stichting promotie muziek Nijmegen
Is working fulltime fot photographer Erwin Olaf as his 1st assistant and technical Manager.
2004 Begind creating a series about authentic shopkeepers in the Netherlands.
2006
creates serie Dredgers. Dredgers is an architectual series about The sandindustry in The Nederlands.
2006 / 2007
Exhibition Dredgers and Shopkeepers at gallery Bartkunstinhuis in Nijmegen.
Solo-exhibition Dredgers and Shopkeepers at the Rijks Universiteit Nijmegen
Group-exhibition at Filmhuis LUX in Nijmegen
Works together with gallery Bart Amsterdam on the book publication Shopkeepers.
Starts as freelance photographer and works for DSM, Spiderplay F&L publishers
