A modern Skidata turnstile at Legoland Windsor, Berkshire, UK. The user inserts their ticket or pass into the orange slot. A barcode on the ticket or pass is read, and the information obtained is passed to the park's computer system, which decides whether access is to be granted or not. If it is, an electric motor shunts the turnstile slightly, encouraging the user to pass through. A sensor, seen just above the lower Skidata logo, determines the speed with which the user passes through, and allows the turnstile to be turned at the corresponding speed. |
