SKAspot, is a ska music web portal created in summer 2007. The website includes a large directory of ska bands, a selection of ska podcasts, music videos on the web, a ska specific web search called "ASK SKA", a listing of websites offering ska related merchandise, and other various ska music resources. SKAspot is the home of This is SKA-Cast, a ska music podcast, and The SKA Toolbar, a web browser addon for Firefox and Internet Explorer that connects users to ska bands and related resources throughout the web. The SKAspot Network is an extension of SKAspot, created as a social network service for the online ska community.
SKAspot was created by an entity that uses the alias skaisyourfriend on the SKAspot Network and on MySpace. Although the creator chooses to remain anonymous, skaisyourfriend is run by the same person who created the SKAspot Network, The SKA Toolbar and This is SKA-Cast.
The SKAspot Network is a social networking website created as an extension of SKAspot. It was established in summer 2007. Its mission is to build a ska-centered community and forge connections throughout the global ska scene. Members include bands, podcasters, promoters and enthusiasts of ska music. The site was created using the Ning "build your own social network" platform and enables members to share music, photos, blogs, and videos consisting of ska-related content. The SKAspot Network was created by one of its current members that uses the alias skaisyourfriend on the community and on MySpace.
