[edit] Welcome

Hi Sixsous, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for joining the coolest online encyclopedia I know of. I hope you stick around. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. Check out the simplified ruleset. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines.

  1. Write from a neutral point of view
  2. Be bold in editing pages
  3. Use wikiquette.

Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me on my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. Alternatively you can place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing 4 tildes like ~~~~. Always sign the talk page, never the articles.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing!--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 06:33, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Britannia Bridge Image

Thanks for courtsesy of letting me know that you are re-using my photo. I have no problem with that. It does remind me that I should post it to Commons instead so that it is available in all Wiki projects.

[edit] Gwynedd

I made it (as with all maps in that series), and it is under GFDL and also dual-licenced under whatever other licences i allow on my userpage, which i am atm too lazy to check. Hope this helps. Morwen - Talk 20:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Traduction of Picsou

Hello, the translation of "Picsou" isn't "Uncle Steal-a-coin" but "Uncle Peak-coin" because the origine of "Pic" is "Peak" (because Scrooge is at the "Summit" of multi-millionaires) and not "Pique/Piquer" ("to steal")--Locusfr 07:17, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jōō

Sixsous -- this note was posted at User talk:Ooperhoofd. I thought it would be of some interest to you; and perhaps you will find some value in my response. Ooperhoofd 16:36, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I would like to make sure that you are aware of my comments at Talk:Joo (first) and Talk:Joo (second). Bendono 03:34, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm not yet comfortable enough with moving anything. In due course, that will change, no doubt. I would like very much to follow your lead with a similar message posted in the French Wikipedia Jōō-pairings and Eishō-pairings but I can't yet confidently offer to handle any consequent disambiguation. It's a small enough trip hazard, but there you have it.
Striking out on a different tack: I'd like to introduce you to a French Wikipedia administrator. I'm not sure about so many things, but I am persuaded that my future is best served by whatever you seem willing to do in terms of the English Wikipedia. I suspect that my future interests in the French Wikipedia and elsewhere are likely served by introducing your serene genrō point-of-view into other venues.
User:Sixsous asks all the right questions -- an especially noteworthy achievement when I find myself disagreeing. Sixsous seems to be blessed with a "door-opener" weltanschauung rather than a more conventional "door-closer" mind-set.
I was thinking that your linguistics and philology background is likely to enhance the foundation from which Sixsous seems to operate; and, in ways I can't imagine, I'd confidently anticipate being amongst the ultimate beneficiaries. To this end, I'm copying these flattering words on User:Sixsous's English user page; and I'll follow up with a note on Utilisateur:Sixsous's French user page.
In the meantime, perhaps I might suggest you look at Chinese era name and then link to the congruent French Wikipedia page Nianhao. Even though you don't read French, you might be interested in Sixsous's graphic presentation of data. Tentatively, I'm projecting that I might be ready to adapt this graph template in the contexts of Japanese era names and Ères du Japon in mid-2008. Ooperhoofd 16:26, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
