[edit] History

Sivasspor was founded in May 1967, as many Anatolian towns decided to install local football teams. The team was allowed to start in the Turkish Second League of that time. It took Sivasspor until 2005 to promote to the Turkish Super League. With good and constant performances they became 8th in their first season and 7th in their second. Their third season was until now, their most successful. Because of that, Sivasspor is now considered the Fifth Bigger Team of Turkey alongside Galatasaray SK, Fenerbahçe SK, Beşiktaş JK and Trabzonspor, as they finished the first half of the season on first place. Even with the team struggling with a number of injuries and bad playgrounds, due to the harsh winters in the city of Sivas, they managed it to go for the records. On Saturday 26th of April, the 33rd week of the Season 2007/08, the team maintained the title "Fifth Team to lift up 22 league victories" in the history of the Turkish Super League. They finished this season on 4th position after Besiktas and Fenerbahce. All three have 73 points on their tableau. Ironically Sivas now has to go for the Intertoto Cup Qualifying. Still it is unsure if Beşiktaş JK will maintain it's 3rd place after Sivas is now appealing to the UEFA.

[edit] Wealth Contrasts For 2007/2008 Turkish Super League

Initiating on this report it has been stated Fenerbahce have a share price on the IMKB (Istanbul Stock Exchange.) of (approx. £21,20 GBP; 29,81 Euros; $43,27 USD). This share price takes the club's current stock market value to just a fraction under $1,1 Billion USD While contrating to Sivasspor have a revenue of only $20 million. Only four clubs, also known as the "Big Four" have been champions since the beginning of the Super League: Fenerbahçe SK (17), Galatasaray SK (17), Beşiktaş J.K. (12) and Trabzonspor (6). This unambiguously inspired Bulent Uygun to be the champions of Turkish Super League. After the crucial defeat in the 33rd week against rivals Galatasaray (3:5), Sivasspor was mathematically not longer able to become league champion. However, the qualification for the UEFA Cup was still possible by own force. But as Fenerbahce surprisingly lost against Trabzonspor, Sivas found himself, despite winning their final match, only on 4th position with 73 points, as many as the leagues 2nd and 3rd, which allowed them only to join the Intertoto Cup. Still the happenings on the 34th week of the Super League remain obscure and highly disputable.

Next season for the first time in their history they will be playing in UEFA Intertoto Cup
