[edit] The pain of the inscrutably removed ˤayn
Is there some reason you took out the ˤayns in Šāfiˤī and replaced them with glottal stops (alifs)? Seems silly to have it spelled wrong, especially when the ˤayns are so readily available. em zilch 22:39, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Please add categories!
Hi! I see you are creating a lot of stubs on towns in Chechnya. That's good, but will you please add at least two categories to all these articles: and . It is of great importance. Thank you. --Anthony Ivanoff 19:06, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Masjid_Shajarah.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Masjid_Shajarah.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 05:09, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Arabic
Hello,
My name is Chris Brennan. I'm in the process of trying to learn Arabic right now and I'm looking for someone that can maybe give me some advice based on their own experience in learning the language. Right now the only book that I have is Awde & Samano's The Arabic Alphabet, and I'm currently looking around for a decent textbook that I can use for self study, but I seem to be getting mixed reviews for almost every book that I'm looking at and I'm not sure what would be the best choice for what I would like to do. My original intent was to learn Classical Arabic, but I'm starting to realize that resources on learning Classical Arabic are much more scarce and it would make the process much more difficult to start there. So then I was thinking that perhaps I could start with Modern Standard Arabic and then once I had a decent grasp of that it wouldn't be such a big leap to get to Classical Arabic. I'm unsure as to how divergent MSA is from Classical Arabic though, so I'm not sure if that is a viable route to go, and I'm still not sure which text book to go with. Do you have any advice? I would really appreciate it. --Chris Brennan 08:16, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hamid Algar
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Hamid Algar, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.alumni.berkeley.edu/Alumni/Cal_Monthly/June_2003/QA-_A_conversation_with_Hamid_Algar.asp. As a copyright violation, Hamid Algar appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Hamid Algar has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If the source is a credible one, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GFDL, you can comment to that effect on Talk:Hamid Algar. If the article has already been deleted, but you have a proper release, you can reenter the content at Hamid Algar, after describing the release on the talk page. However, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia.
[edit] link to bosnian
Hello, when you want to link to the article about something Bosnian, please do not link to Bosnian, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as Bosnia (region) or Bosnia and Herzegovina by writing out Bosnian. [edit] Anthony Joseph Zerilli
A prod template has been added to the article Anthony Joseph Zerilli, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with db-author. J Readings 05:45, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Saddeka Arebi
I see you added Saddeka Arebi to the List of University of California, Berkeley faculty. This is list is for notable faculty, is Prof. Arebi notable? Perhaps she should be added to the Category:University_of_California,_Berkeley_faculty instead? I question the notability of Prof. Arebi, usually to be notable a person needs to have some sort of published biography or at least a biographical article. The reference "New Voices for Women in the Middle East, Ragai N. Makar University of Utah" mentions Prof. Arebi, but is not biographical. Cxbrx 03:02, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sirte logo.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sirte logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Sirte Basin
Hi. I've nominated Sirte Basin, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created on September 12, where you can improve it if you see fit. Thanks, MeegsC | Talk 11:46, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Well done Sir192. We hardly ever have any stuff from Libya so feel free to keep on self nominating. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 04:44, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:CERTVLOGO.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:CERTVLOGO.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:46, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Turner logo.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Turner logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:17, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Possibly unfree Image:Al-Ibrahim_Mosque.jpg
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Al-Ibrahim_Mosque.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image source problem with Image:AlexRudaj.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AlexRudaj.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:57, 22 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 00:57, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
