The British government asked a Sir Henry Willink QC to chair a Commission to recommend the best strategies for the development of the Nigerian Delta region. When the Commission turned in its report in 1958, it specifically recommended that the Niger Delta region deserved special developmental attention, leading to the establishment of a Niger Delta Development Board in 1960.
A Henry Willink also chaired Royal Commission on Policing in 1960, which recommended a considerable pay rise for beat bobbies.
I am not clear whether this was the same Willink - was he a barrister? Mtiedemann 01:39, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
