Sir Robert Ducie, 1st Baronet

Sir Robert Ducie 1st Baronet (1575 - c.1634) was a former Lord Mayor of London and banker to King Charles I.
The eldest surviving son of Henry Ducie, merchant of London and his wife Mary Hardy, Sir Robert Ducie was Sheriff of London in 1620, and appointed Lord Mayor in 1631. Created a Baronet on 28th November 1629, Ducie accumulated immense wealth as a merchant, and despite having lost £80,000 when the King was driven from London during the rebellion, he reputedly was worth more than £400,000[1] at his death.
He married Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Pyott, Alderman of London, c.1608, and they had four sons:
- Sir Richard Ducie Bt. d. 1656
- Sir William Ducie Bt.
- Henry Ducie Esq.
- Robert Ducie Esq.
