Siquirres Canton

Siquirres is the name of the third canton in the province of Limón in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 860.19 km²[1], and has a population of 56,246[2]. Its capital city is also called Siquirres.
The canton touches the Caribbean coast between the mouths of the Río Pacuare to the southeast and the Río Parismina to the northwest. It encompasses territory in a southwest direction, between the Río Madre de Dios on the southeast side and the Río Destierro on the northwest, as far as the southernmost portion of the Cordillera Central.
The canton of Siquirres is subdivided into 6 distritos (districts).

The canton was established by law on September 19, 1911.
