[edit] Updating
Please continue to update this page. I am only halfway through. It seems to me that few Singaporeans are willing to edit the opposition's wiki. Is the climate of fear in Singapore really that serious?
[edit] NPOV/Unreferenced
I came across this article, and while I do not know much about politics, I find that this article seems rather bias, such as the example quote: "Chiam's election victory was all the more significant as it showed voters repudiated the People's Action Party's (PAP) arrogant and aloof style of campaigning, in which the ruling party at one time urged voters not to vote for Chiam because his O-level results were poorer than those of the PAP candidate." It appears to portray an opinion as a fact (please correct me if I'm wrong), which certainly does not conform to the NPOV policy. However, I myself am unable to improve this article much due to a lack of expertise in this area.
Furthermore, there are 7 "Citations needed", only 1 reference, and I can easily find many facts in the article which would be much more believable with citations and quotes, for example the second bolded part of the above quote. --Wonglkd 12:18, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- I am a Singaporean and I can confirm the above was reported in the news. I agree that "arrogant and aloof style" should be removed though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.255.119.83 (talk • contribs)

- I'm curious which PAP member said that. Anyone remembers? --Vsion 06:46, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

- It is our dear MM Lee Kuan Yew FYI. And i also agree that "arrogant and aloof style" should be removed as it is a opinion that cannot be justified as a fact. Arrogant is defined as having pride in one's self, and aloof meaning distant emotionally or physically, and i find it hard to quantify their campaigning to the phrase suggested. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.75.21.203 (talk • contribs)

Is it just me, or does that logo look like the one from Star Trek? Just H 06:33, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SDP
As an observer i must admit that at times the PAP seems arrogant in its policies, however, in light of the last elections, it is clear that the SDP would be better run if Dr. Chee Soon Juan quit the party. He adopts what some would call a smear campaign against the PAP, often without evidences in most cases. To the educated Singaporeans, it is often the lack of evidence in his arguements that lead to the party losing popularity among the population. It is my opinion that the climate of fear in Singapore is non-exsistence. Some would argue the point, brought about by the PAP, about the quality of the opposition party in Singapore. Honestly speaking, other then Mr Chiam See Tong, there are hardly any opposition that could rally the people; although the current worker's party seems to be gaining some improvement. Rather then saying that the PAP oppress the opposition, thou at time it does seem so, I would argue that the opposition simply did not function the way it supposes to. After years of weak involvement among the opposition, I could not blame the people to lose interest in politics. It is not the PAP strong stand that is the cause, rather, it is the poor coordinatation, leadership, and ability of the opposition that contributed to the PAP supposed 'dominance' in Singapore's political scene by the west. observer 09:31, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
