Singapore is a fast becoming a patron of the arts. The government spends millions of dollars encouraging art. The small city island known from its airport and port and financial hub is becoming a Life Sciences and Hi Tech center.
Singapore focuses on the attraction, retention and growth of knowledge capital because the country has few natural resources. It has a thriving economy and is world renowned for the efficiency of its government.
The focus on art (visual and performing arts) is recent (past 10 years). The country hopes to make Singapore a cultural capital much like London, San Francisco and New York.
