Singapore does not really have its own original sign language just as it has no original language. However the actual sign language taught in schools is SEE or Signed Exact English which as the name suggests is exact word-for-word English signing. In everyday use, some signs are borrowed from Shanghai Sign Language, which was taught in schools until the 60s[citation needed].
