From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Singapore Day is a cultural cum cuisine-based event aimed at attracting the Overseas Singaporean community residing in New York City and other neighbouring cities and states such as Washington, D.C., New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It was held on 21 April 2007, it attracted an unexpectedly high response, and had to move its venue from Bryant Park to the Wollman Rink in Central Park. Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng was in New York for the event.[1] 6,000 people attended the event and also included New Yorkers. Singaporean cuisine was served at the event with Singaporean hawkers flying to the city to cook the dishes.

Organised by Overseas Singaporean Unit, the event includes entertainment by comedian Hossan Leong and singer Kit Chan.
