[edit] The Story Of Sine Macula

[edit] The past

Sine Macula are a bizarre 'Heavy Metal' band from north Italy.
The project was created in 1989 by Andy: music was felt as a feeling of estrangement. Two years went by before the unofficial debut was recorded: it was the instrumental demo "Ricordi", four clearly minimal and claustrophobic tracks. With the tape "Celestial Vision"(his official instrumental debut, recorded in 1992), Sine Macula carried out the original stylistic proposal that still today characterizes him. Electric guitars appeared in addition to keyboards, obtaining a sound not far from the most dreamy and sidereal space rock. "Stilness" (1993) was the turning point of Sine Macula's career. The sound became more accessible, assuming the influences of the best italian prog rock (Le Orme, PFM) and the work had a background of deep brightness, that may not be found in the future. The result was amazing and the name began to spread in the music scene. In 1994 Sine Macula collaborated with Lost Venice, authors of the homonymous and well-known tape. It was a gloomy, powerful and evocative dark metal. In 1997 Sine Macula found out again the electric-pop of the early Eighties (Alphaville, Soft Cell, Mike Oldfield) and modified his sound in a significant way. Thanks to the choice of singing the lyrics, the songwriting became easier and attractive, not lacking in a fairly good commerciality. In the following years Sine Macula composed and recorded a great amount of songs that gradually shifted the accent towards the present-day, excellent mixture of easy-listening electronic music and technological heavy-metal, without giving up that autumnal elegy that always resides between the notes of this sensitive and inspired artist.

The 'Dark Idols' Album

He spent the three years 1998-1999-2000 in the complex working of 'Dark Idols'. The contacts and the mutual esteem with Steve Sylvester , leader of the legendary band 'Death SS' and owner of the cult-label "Lucifer Rising", brought at the realization of 'Dark Idols', the final masterpiece where Sylvester himself is present like guest on the lead vocals in the title-track. The vocal effort of Luigi makes the album one of the best release of the year, as stated by various musical magazines.
