[edit] Scope

Since I don't know much about the other Simple Green Products, this page is currently very focused on the All-Purpose Concetrated cleaner. As far as I know, this product is nearly synonymous with the phrase "Simple Green" -- but I can't tell you for sure that it's the flagship product of the Simple Green line.

I hope that someone can come along and add info on other Simple Green products.

Is the lemon version any different than the regular green one? Besides the obvious scent/color differences. Does it clean less effectively?

I deleted the portions of the contents that made the claim that Simple Green contains 2-Butoxyethanol. They were worded in vague and misleading ways that did not make clear whether the concentrations of 2-Butoxyethanol in Simple Green was above/below the dilution point for 2-Butoxyethanol toxicity. The citation provided for the 2-Butoxyethanol content of Simple Green does not list a percentage concentration, making any claim of toxicity both contrary to the packaging and the published MSDS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.98.56.21 (talk) 19:44, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

It is considered to be below the level where it has to be reported, but it is still an active ingredient and a toxic chemical. It's relevant information. This is an encyclopedia. It's not Simple Green's packaging. The fact that it's not considered toxic on the MSDS is not reason to keep it out of the encyclopedia. Regardless, I will be writing it back in, making it clear that 1) Simple Green is alleged to contain 2-Butoxyethanol, but 2) it contains it at a level which is considered by the powers that be to be non-toxic. Then it will be clear and people can make up their minds. OptimistBen (talk) 10:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

The lemon version is identical to the green version.

Simple Green does contain 2-butoxyethanol, it's listed on the label as well as on the MSDS at under 6% of the formula. 2-butoxyethanol is a toxic ingredient, but so is everything else in large enough doses including alcohol, salt, caffiene and even water. I have requested the oral toxicity data, which shows that a dose of 5 grams per kilogram body weight is not toxic and that is the cut off point determined by our government. I've also stumbled across data that shows the toxicity of salt is only 3 grams per kilogram of body weight. It'd be best if people actually researched things like relative toxicity and chemicals thoroughly before making rash judgements. Call the company if you want, they were nice and friendly and got back to me immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.251.87.34 (talk) 00:59, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
