What is the true meaning of activating the Gem before take off? If the Gem can be activated in midair, then a Simoun can fly without it being activated, can't it? Otherwise, the Gem may be only "charged" with some amount of energy by the ritual and need "recharging" after some time - but IMO that's more sci-fi than fantasy (Hi, Eva, hi, Gundam!). In my opinion, activating the Gem is instrumental for drawing Ri Maajons, but not for steering the Simoun. After all, the machine is propelled by the helical motors and not by the Gem itself. In fact, no other machine IIRC utilizing helical motors has a gem attached to it and demands that to girls kiss it before powering up. :) --Koveras 10:04, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, to prevent spoiling you, wait until episode 19 is fansubbed. If you can't wait that long, the simple answer is that the Simouns appear to be a special case (again without spoilers):

1. They have two helical motors, not one, as many other vessels powered by such technology are. The Gem may serve a purpose in synchronizing the two motors (but the carriers Arcus Prima, Arcus Nigel, and Messis may use more than one).
2. Only Simouns can perform Ri Maajons, which are most likely powered by the Gem. If certain events after episode 12 are any indication, the motors and the Ri Maajons are somehow connected.

As fantastic as this series may seem, keep in mind that there are still sci-fi elements in it-- the binary star system, the lack of anything being called "magic", and instead looking for more plausible explanations for how things work (like what the choirs are said to be doing in addition to priestly duties).Magus Melchior 05:47, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Apparently Cite.php is buggy when named and anonymous ref tags are mixed (as Koveras and I have found). As a temporary fix, I've named all ref tags (which worked in Yūno Scrya's article); this restored the proper order and number of references, but MediaWiki appears to remain confused about the number of reference occurrences—specifically, it doubles them seemingly randomly.

The principle of conjuring magical effects by drawing predifined symbols in the air (Ri Mājons) is very similar to the way magic is cast in the Black & White computer game series that started in 2001.

Umm... is there a point to this? We can find similar cases of casting magic by drawing in the air, but does that mean we list 'em all here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Magus Melchior (talk • contribs)

If you find more examples, please, let me know first. ^^ And as to the point of it, "Trivia" sections are just that: collections of useless but sometimes amusing bits of information. Yeah, but here's the problem: Wikipedia isn't a collection of useless but otherwise amusing bits of information. My point was, unless they somehow found inspiration for the mechanism of the Ri Mājon in the Black and White magic system, this is coincidental fancruft.
