I have a question. Where does the word "SILVERADO" come from? Does it have a meaning, or was it just made up by someone? Thank you.  ;-)odiekarone

It's a type of Spanglish for "silvered". The earliest usage was documented by Robert Louis Stevenson in his book The Silverado Squatters. Silverado was the name of a mining camp in Northern California. The name remains in common use in the area. I'm questioning the statement, "Though this film received little attention at the time of its release, it featured a cast full of actors that would go onto achieve high-profile careers." The film was highly regarded by critics, and stole some of the thunder from Pale Rider, another latter day Western that came out the same year. All of the main cast with the exception of Costner were known and bankable properties, the least known of them having established themselves with Kasdan in The Big Chill two years previously. I think whoever wrote this statement was talking off the top of his head, and someone with some actual references and citations should rewrite it. 12.22.250.4 16:27, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
