From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Siletz River (suh-LITZ) is a river, approximately 70 mi (113 km) long, on the Pacific coast of Oregon in the United States. It drains 202 square miles (523 km²)[1] of Lincoln County in the Central Oregon Coast Range, rising only 20 mi (32 km) from the ocean and flowing in a highly zigzag course, changing direction multiple times.
It rises in a remote area of western Polk County and flows southwest, to Siletz, then generally northwest towards the coast. It enters the Pacific through Siletz Bay () south of Lincoln City.
The river's average discharge varies from 131 cfs (August) to 3360 cfs (December).[2] The lowest flow was recorded on October 20, 1987 and October 29, 1987 at 47 cfs. The highest was 53,800 cfs on November 26, 1999[1]
