The Book-of-the-Month Club edition of Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, with the included "Report" on the book by Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas. The jacket, like the book's illustrations, was done by Lois and Louis Darling.

It also meets the fair use criteria when used to discuss Justice Douglas' endorsement of Silent Spring, in the article William O. Douglas. The image is of the front portion of the Silent Spring jacket, along with the front page of the the 6-page pamphlet containing Douglas's endorsement. The pamphlet was distributed as promotional material, while the jacket design has been replaced by a different one in modern editions. No free replacement of this image is possible.
