Sigrid Fry-Revere

Sigrid Fry-Revere is the Director of Bioethics Studies at The Cato Institute. She earned her BA with honors at Smith College in 1983 and went on to earn her Masters in Jurisprudence at Georgetown University in 1984. Sigrid completed a joint degree program at Georgetown, receiving her J.D. in 1988 and Ph.D. in philosophy in 1990, becoming the first student at Georgetown to complete a joint degree program in law and philosophy. She was also the first person in the United States to hold both a law degree and a Ph.D. in philosophy with a concentration in bioethics. While at Georgetown University Law Center, Sigrid was the executive editor of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics for its inaugural issue.

Sigrid worked as an attorney, practicing bioethics, health, and FDA law with the law firm of Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn. She then worked as an adjunct professor of ethics and healthcare law at George Mason University College of Nursing and Health Science, and then at the University of Virginia Center for Biomedical Ethics.
