"Signal Fire" is a song by Snow Patrol written for the film Spider-Man 3, which was released on May 4, 2007. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the song makes an appearance at the end of the film during the credits, and can be considered the theme for the film. It was released as a single on May 7, 2007 in the United Kingdom, the band's first after releasing five singles to support their 2006 album Eyes Open.
The song debuted at number sixty-five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.[1] The song peaked at number 4 on the UK Official Top 40 Singles Chart, and to date is Snow Patrol's highest charting single.
[edit] Music video
The music video for the song, directed by Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin), features school children performing a stage version of the first two Spider-Man films, Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 2 (2004). The famous kissing scene in the first Spider-Man film is recreated, but instead of Spider-Man kissing the little girl, another little boy dressed as the spider that bites Peter Parker rushes from the wings and kisses the child Mary-Jane instead. The curtain then falls and the audience (made up of the parents) applaud. At the end of the video, a child dressed as black-suited Spider-Man stands in the spotlight and holds up a notice saying "Coming soon - Spider-Man 3."
