Signature of Grasset Latour from 9 November 1846 slave emancipation document. Grasset Latour and several other St. Landry Parish inhabitants certified that the slave: Celeste has at all times led a good conduct, and we further declare that the considerations upon which the above petition [for emancipation] is grounded are well known to us, and that therefore, as far as it lies in our power, we support the same and pray for this emancipation of the slaves therein described.
