Has this word ever been used in this context in an English work?

It seems to me that the German sentences referred to in which the word "sideroxylon" has been used have been translated into English ("iron-wood"), but the word "sideroxylon" has also been repeated in the original German as though it were an English word as well.

I've looked, but I can't find any instance of it being used in English other than referring to the plant genus. Somerandomnerd 12:10, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

In the English translation of Schopenhauer's The World as Will and Representation, the translator, E. F. J. Payne, Jr., used the phrase "wooden iron" as an English equivalent for the Greek sideroxylon and the German hölzernes Eisen.Lestrade 19:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Lestrade
