Sidney Haywoode

Sidney Haywoode is an English singer (born in London). She used two stage names: "Haywoode" and "Sid Haywoode".
As a child she studied at Corona Academy of the Arts, worked in television, film and modeling. She was signed by CBS in 1983 and soon released her first single "A Time Like This" (reached the Top 5 Dance and Top 50 Pop UK charts). She worked with the famous songwriters and producers Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman known as Stock Aitken Waterman and released two singles with them : "You'd Better Not Fool Around" and "Getting Closer". Her biggest success was single "Roses" that gave her 11 place in UK top in 1986 and was followed by invitation to Top of the Pops (BBC}. Sydney left UK and went to US. Currently she is living there and performing with her band in various clubs and restaurants.
In 2008 Sidney recorded an album "A Haywoode Return" Her first single, Nasty Girl was release by Hollywood Records. Later in January 2008, Hollywood Records stated that the album wouldn't be sold within Europe, Asia or Canada, unless record sales would rise in the United States.

Her sister is the singer Emma Haywoode, who in the 1990s had singles, such as "Need Your Lovin'" out on the Boss Records label.
Getting Closer was later recorded by Kylie Minogue as a b side. It was also covered by New Zealand Popstars winners TrueBliss in an a cappella on their debut album Dream and as the b side to their number one hit Tonight in 1999.
