Siddaganga Institute of Technology is located at Tumkur, Karnataka State, India. It is popularly known as SIT-Tumkur. Tumkur is a District headquarters located about 70 km from Bengaluru (Bangalore), the capital of Karnataka. Sri ShivaKumara Swamiji, Religious head of Siddaganga Mutt is the visionary behind SIT-Tumkur. The college was started in 1963 under his guidance.
SIT-Tumkur offers 4 year Bachelors degree in various branches of engineering, a four semester Masters and PhD in selected branches of engineering. SIT-Tumkur is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and follows the syllabus set by VTU. The degrees are awarded from VTU.
Dr. M. N. Channabasappa, formerly from Regional Engineering College - Surathkal became Principal of the college in 1991. Currently[when?], Dr. S M Shashidhara leads the college as Principal, while Dr. M. N. C. has taken the role of Director.
