Sidchrome
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sidchrome brand automotive tools became a household name throughout Australia by the 1950s. The brand emerged when Siddons Drop Forgings Pty Ltd turned to tool making to fill post-war shortages after World War II. Original production of Sidchrome tools in Australia was in the Brunswick area in the city of Melbourne, Victoria.
[edit] Racing
Sidchrome sponsored several Australian and New Zealand racing drivers in the 1970s, notably New Zealand and Australian saloon champion Jim Richards.
[edit] Present
Sidchrone is still a top-selling automotive tool brand in Australia and New Zealand and currently (2007) sponsors the Most Improved Award in Australia's V8 Supercar Championship series.
