This came from the

*SIC (Sekolah Indonesia Cairo) or Indonesian School In Cairo

entry:

link official website this school is located in 63 Mosaddak st. Dokki, Cairo, Egypt. This school also functioned as the Indonesian culture center in Egypt beside The Indonesian Embassy. One can learn/have a course in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language) here.

just in case someone can out-imagine me and create a valid WP article on this school or at least Indoneasian overseas schools. It has no place in a Dab, tho, in the absence of such an article.

On the other hand,

stands for "Sans Intention Comique" (without comic intention) meaning that even if the preceding text could be understood as funny, it was not meant to be (analogous to "no pun intended" in English).

is a dictdef as it stands and has no place in a Dab; this text could go into French writing conventions or some better idea for an article.

[edit] Sans Intention Comique ?

I am french and I can certify that in french "sic" means "as it is written here" in 99.9% of the cases. And I am not joking... --ArséniureDeGallium 17:10, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] SIC

I have changed this entry to more accurately reflect the meaning. It is a common mistake, as the previous entry showed, to believe the word is or can only be used to indicate an error.Alci12 12:37, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sic (latin)

The entry for Sic (Latin) on this page is far too in depth for a disambig. - Stoph 21:40, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sic (latin)

I don't believe it, either. Acronyms mostly date from the latter half of the twentieth century.

[edit] SIC

does this not have a meaning in the USA as a slang word?

  • I think you mean "sick" - Stoph 18:32, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Somebody should write it on the slipknot meaning cause I see everybody going (SIC) all the time (and frankly its annoying) but I dunno what the hell they mean by it.

[edit] Cleanup

I cleaned up this disambiguation page per MOS:DAB. I removed for unclear notability:

  • SIC The "Trail by Fire" for all worthy Air Cadets
  • SIC (Sekolah Indonesia Cairo): Indonesian School In Cairo
  • "[sic]" is the tenth track on the album of the same name by George Hrab
  • "[sic!]," the title of an album by Hey
  • Swiss Interbanking Clearing, a clearing system
  • Standard Inventory Control, a method of handling warehouse items

Removed for being a dictionary defintion:

  • As in "sic 'em" said to encourage a dog to chase and bite: arose as a quick pronunciation of "seek".

Removed as expired prod:
