The Siberian Federal University was created by the decision of the Government of Russia on November 4, 2006. The institution integrated 4 large higher education institutions (Krasnoyarsk State University, Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Architecture and Civil Construction, Krasnoyarsk State Technical University, State University of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold) into one 43,000-student university located in the city of Krasnoyarsk.
