[edit] Merging stub pages

The disambiguation and stub pages were merged together. However, first of all, the link to the opera version was removed, and secondly, the opera stub (which used to be here, in the Shunkinsho page), has not been merged in. I don't object to merging the opera page, the film page, and the disambiguation page, but the recent merge was done carelessly. Thus I have reverted it back out. If it is to be done again, please be more careful to either include the link to the opera, which is Shunkinsho (opera) or merge in the opera page (another stub). --DannyWilde 00:53, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Sorry. I made mistakes. I am redoing the merger again. -- Taku 21:47, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't understand why you merged the movie page and not the opera page. This page, "shunkinsho", was originally about the opera, and I moved the opera to "shunkinsho (opera)", then made the disambiguation page, and then made the movie page. I really don't see why you have moved the movie page here onto the disambiguation page and didn't merge the opera page in too. It doesn't make sense to me. What is the reason for this merger, if you're not going to merge the opera page in? If there are two pages about Shunkinsho, why not just leave the disambiguation page, instead of putting one of the disambiguated pages into the disambiguation page itself, then leaving the other page somewhere else. I just don't see why you made these edits - it doesn't make any sense to me. You made the merge of Nihonjinron into Japanese people as well, but why? Those topics are totally separate, and then someone who wants to write more about Nihonjinron has to come and undo the merge. It's just creating work for other people. Why not just leave the stubs alone instead of merging them in? --DannyWilde 01:01, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
Simply because I didn't have time to finish merging the opera page.
Why start it then? It doesn't make sense to me. You don't have time to do a proper merge, so you make a messy, incomplete, merge, not once but twice? The first time round you didn't even seem to notice that there was the opera page, even though I've mentioned it in the page history and also linked to it, so I had to come back, fix all the mess again, then you put the edits back, but this time you didn't remove the disambig tag on the page either, although it was no longer a disambiguation page. Can you please stop doing this kind of half-baked edit? If you don't have time to do a proper edit, then don't do the edit at all. --DannyWilde 09:08, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
True, I should have made my intension clearer, which I am going to do right away. To defend myself, when my edits appear unreasonable, it is either because (1) I made a mistake; (2) I was mistaken; (3) The edits are unfinished but I didn't leave any note on what is to be done. As for Japanese people and Nihonjinron, you can find my reasoning (though very brief) at the talkpage of Japanese people. Since this issue is an off-topic, I don't want to elaborate this further here. You can make your argument there.
Hope this will answer every question of yours. Cheers! -- Taku 02:04, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
The fundamental question I have is why you would merge one of the two pages linked from a disambiguation page into the disambiguation page without merging the other page. It makes no sense at all - please just leave the pages alone until you have time to do it properly. If you don't find the time to merge the opera pages in by tomorrow, I'll just put the pages back to the way they were: two stub pages and a disambiguation page, and perhaps you could come back and merge these pages properly next time. I don't see any reason to half do it and then leave the job undone. I think it's also important not to either destroy links or leave invalid templates on the page after you merge it. --DannyWilde 09:08, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
Not sure what you want me to say. I think I have answered why I didn't merge the opera page (i.e., the task was unfinished.) Also, as I said already, I forgot to link the opera page, which simply happened and is going to happen again unless, I don't know, say I receive some psychiatric surgery. I don't want to be sarcastic, but unless you're asking me to do something I can, I simply cannot help. Does this make sense at all? -- Taku 03:48, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
