Rabbi Boruch Leshes says that the current draff version we have is missing a lot of wholes volume, his basis for this claim is the footnotes written by the Alter Rebbe, which point to volumes that we don't have. He has shown in his Shabbos Halacha Shiurim footnotes pointing upto volume 16. He brings from a few sources from the Alter Rebbe's children - mainly the Mitler Rebbe - that the draff version we have today, where copies of the Alter Rebbe's draft by other Chosidim so they could have more to learn from. A simillar statement is found in the Publisher's forward of the english edition which is being printed by Kehot in recent years. 220.233.48.200 10:10, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- There is no question that much is missing, but I don't know how large the volumes are that he speaks about. There are whole sections obviously missing in the middle of the volumes we have now, such as Hilchot Channukah. Possibly, those could have been considered volumes by themselves. I was quite annoyed when I found out that a section (on Birkat Hamazon) I thought was lost in the fire turned out to be a misprint in my edition... Can you imagine if I hadn't checked in another set?
