[edit] Olympic Shooting

hello if anyone is out there reading this i would like to find some information about olympic shooting

Have a look at ISSF shooting events. Regrettably it's not very complete, but if nothing else, there's a link to ISSF's official site. -- Jao 04:48, Aug 5, 2004 (UTC)

Olympic Shooting? That's an interesting Gold Medal. Alexander 007 07:20, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

This reads more like a h2g2 article.--SpacemanAfrica 02:10, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of Olympic shooting, it's surprising to find no entries for pentathlon (a summer event which includes pistol) or biathlon (winter rifle).

Note that the article for such information is Shooting sports. I do think Modern Pentathlon is missing in the list there, though. If so, it should be added. -- Jao 12:38, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rule 2

To point a firearm at anything the firer is not willing to kill or destroy.

Isn't this a bit counterproductive? I'm thinking there's a missing "not", "never" or "refrain from". Magus Melchior 00:43, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pictures?

Pictures would help the ambiance of this article. C0N6R355 23:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Can we expand this article?

I don't think this article is written in the "wikipedia standard," this article should have some things like history as a sport (and not as in weapon use), Olympic history, and maybe some things like "related dangers and controversy," instead the article reads as if it's a guide on how to shoot, which is nice, but belongs in wikibooks or in external links. Here's what should be added and some website links I found that may or may not be helpful.

I don't know much about shooting, so I won't try and edit this in myself. Also, I'm new to wiki, if you have any advice for me, please do.

I think what you are looking for is Shooting sports. Granted, that article, and everything that forks out of it, can certainly need help; we are not that many who work on them. For an overview of sport shooting articles, to get a knack of where you could be contributing if you want to, see also Category:Shooting sports. As for merging Shooting sports into Shooting, I think maybe clarifying the disambiguation notice to make readers more aware of the existence of Shooting sports might be a better solution, although I agree that this article is in the risk zone for being/becoming a guide book. And by the way, welcome! -- Jao 05:06, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
