Founded by vocalist and oud player Stefan Sablic (Asher Alkalay),Shira u’tfila draws its inspiration from the diversity and richness of Ottoman-Turkish, Spanish, Arabic and Balkan musical traditions. The multi-ethnic ensemble includes Indian master of tabla, darabuka, bendir and drums Akash Bhatt; Israeli qanun player Elad Gabbay; German violinist Filip Krumes and Serbian double bassist Srdjan Djordjevic – with each musician representing a specific cultural and artistic synthesis.
