This article is about a person, place, or concept whose name is originally rendered in the Japanese script; however, the article does not have that version of its name in the article's lead paragraph. Anyone who is knowledgeable enough with the original language is invited to assist in adding the Japanese script.

This dual class ability is a unique ninja only ability, that most martial artists cannot do. For the ninja, such deep level infiltration in the enemy camps is both dangerous, and often heart breakingly difficult. For the ninja if there is no integrity, they would become absorbed into the enemy's camp. I removed this paragraph because 1) I'm not sure what "dual class" is supposed to mean, 2) it is rather misguided to compare ninja with martial artists, and 3) the fact that the often fatal consequence of defecting ninjas are also very important in ensuring their loyalty, rather than simply their integrity.

I've begun to work on this page; so far, all I have added is the methodologies section and edited the existing text. Someone want to help and add more? --Stretch 12:37, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Finally came back to to this page, I've been tied up with other projects. Shoiuld the junk about costumes, masks and 'infiltration' be removed? From the research I've done, they have nothing to do with Shinobi-iri --Stretch 06:21, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Removed junk, due to lack of comments from any other user and added expansion tag. Will come back to expand.--Stretch 10:50, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Just a comment on the word "integrity" – it has more than a moral sense, it can mean "undivided" so that being single minded about who you really are can help when working undercover when identity can become blurred; strongly integrated personalities have more chance of staying defined in situations when sympathies or loyalties threaten to shift. In this way, ninja mental training is a form of self protection in order to accomplish the work. About costumes etc, these are found in the article Ninjutsu under the 18 skills (Ninja Juhakkei). As you can tell I really like this article - it's one of the few expanded sections of the skills list. Julia Rossi 23:11, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

PS Can you explain what are the "fatal consequences" you refer to? "Dual class" is about a double existence, so perhaps it would be better to put it that way. Are other martial arts concerned with subterfuge or were Ninja the notable specialists in Japan? JR

[edit] Cleanup

Apart from the obvious format problems, this article has very poor structure and does not explain well what it is about. Probably some of the details can be weeded out. // habj 23:14, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanedup

I've taken out repeated segments, organised the article and flow – so I've removed the tag. Feel free to replace it with a specific tag if needed. I'm not sure if the references or citations are connected to the correct statements, so you might like to check this again. Julia Rossi 12:57, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] THIS IS NOT NARUTO!!!

Kage and Tobeskio never existed, they were created for Naruto. True Shinobi ( ninja ) classification consist of three parts Genin, Chunin, and Jonin. This is historic fact. This page is based on the real shinobi-iri not naruto. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.40.228.6 (talk) 21:20, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
