Talk:Shiftspace

My rationale for creating this article:
I created this article because I have extensively researched (social) web annotation systems over the past year. "Web Annotation 2.0 : How Social Functionality can foster better User Acceptance" was the title of my Bachelor thesis for my German Bachelor degree at the University of Duisburg-Essen, which I completed in September 2007. You can read the thesis here http://jkwebs.de/webannotation2.pdf.
As part of this work I researched several web annotation systems and ShiftSpace was among them. Others were diigo.com, fleck.com and thirdvoice.com (closed). ShiftSpace seemed to be in a rather unique position because it was the only current open-source system. In addition it has also a unique architecture (based on Greasemonkey and towards P2P) and philosophy (artsy and aimed towards the public good).
These open- and uniqueness made me choose ShiftSpace as the base for my design ideas about social web annotation systems. Because of these reasons I think it is a very notable system within the notable genre of web annotation. And thus I created this article.
