Shishir is a name (commonly given to males) originating in the civilization of the Indus Valley and Gangetic Plains. It is a term relating to the coming of the winter season (Ritu) or the winter wind.
Shishir also means dew drop Bengali language
In Nepalese language, Shishir means the winter.
Shishir in Hinduism is related to winters and cold.
It is also one among the many names of the Hindu God Lord Vishnu,and appears in the Vishnu Sahasranaama(Thousand names of Vishnu).
