Shimoyakedou

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shimoyakedou (しもやけ堂 Shimoyakedō?) is an H dōjinshi circle created by Tokiichi Ouma (逢魔 刻壱 Ōma Tokiichi?) with published releases that began in 2002. This circle's hentai dōjinshi focus prominently on consensual futanari and yuri pairings, although male characters are occasionally incorporated. A majority of Shimoyakedou's releases have featured characters from the popular Type-Moon eroges Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. Other works involve parodies of various 2D fighting games and anime. Shimoyakedou has released over thirty high quality dōjinshi which began exhibition via Comiket as early as Comiket65 in 2003.[1] Although all of this circle’s works are released in Japanese only, dedicated admirers have produced a number of unofficial yet professional English translations.

[edit] Dōjinshi structure

Shimoyakedou's dōjinshi adhere to the following basic structure:

  • Front Cover - A full-color front cover depicts one or more of the dōjinshi’s main characters in revealing or seductive poses.
  • Main Story - A series of humorous and cute super deformed scenes introduce the setting and characters who subsequently engage in passionate lovemaking throughout most of the dōjinshi. [2]
  • Ending - A humorous one-page ending brings closure to the main story. [3]
  • Extras - Guest art, rough sketches, or individual pin-ups of other relevant characters follow the main story's ending. [4]
  • Information - The final page provides textual details such as the author's name, dōjinshi release date, and names of guest artists. [5]
  • Rear Cover - A full-color rear cover displays an alternate version or continuation of the front cover's art.

[edit] Art style

Ouma's unique drawing style employs multiple shades of light gray and very soft linework that serve to complement the gentle, tender, and passionate themes of his works. So as to further emphasize the light shading of his art, he adopted a distinguishing black-colored formatting in 2005. This formatting appears in two different layouts: the first in which thick black margins form a capital “I” across each pair of open pages [6], and the second in which black margins completely border each individual page.[7] In both cases, divisions between panels are solid black, and the dōjinshi title is listed in white text along the upper corner margin. All Shimoyakedou dōjinshi since Purple Grape have utilized this formatting on every page of the main story.

[edit] Trivia

  • The title of Shimoyakedou's first dōjinshi is often seen incorrectly referenced as Error Code 200212. The "200212" does not refer to the title's "code" but rather the year (2002) and month (12) of this dōjinshi's release.[8]
  • Although it is rare to find bondage in a Shimoyakedou dōjinshi, the opening scene of Error Code features a futanari gagged and restrained by chains. The scene is short lived, however, as another girl finds and immediately releases her.[9]
  • Being published in Japan, all of Shimoyakedou’s works are required to adhere to Japanese censorship laws. With the exception of Error Code and Yumeneko which use mosaic censorship[10], all Shimoyakedou dōjinshi utilize thin black bars for censoring.
  • The female characters Rider, Rin, and Saber from Fate/stay night have each been featured five times in his works, more than any other character. Rider is the only one of these three who was not portrayed as a futanari.
  • Noble Liquid, the only Shimoyakedou dōjinshi to feature a tentacle theme, remains completely consensual and features tentacles that are standard body protrusions of the female Hydron character.[11] This is a unique departure from the typical hentai depiction of hidden tentacles that emerge without warning and mercilessly assault their victims.
  • Nagatoto, a 2006 dōjinshi based on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, marked the first of Shimoyakedou's releases to be based on an anime title.
