Shihan Van Clief (born Ron van Clief Jr. on August 4, 1975) is an African-American spoken word artist and poet, best known for his many appearances on the HBO television series Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry. He is the son of five-time karate and kung-fu world champion grand master Ron van Clief. Apparently, his father gave him the stage name Shihan which means "teacher" in Japanese.
